Fretbox privacy policy
Last updated: 29 September 2026
App: Fretbox
Identifier: com.pdevelop.fretbox
Controller: PDEVELOP LLC
Contact: contact@pdevelop.net
1. Summary in one sentence
Fretbox collects no data whatsoever: no analytics, no advertising, no accounts and no crash reporting, and it makes no network connections, so the scores you open never leave your device.
2. What data is not collected
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting.
- No advertising identifiers or other device identifiers.
- No access to your camera, photos, contacts, location or health data.
- No recordings: the tuner's audio is never written to a file and never transmitted.
The microphone is the only permission Fretbox requests, on iPhone. It asks for it only when you open the tuner and uses it only while the tuner is running: the audio is analysed on the device, in memory, to work out which note you are playing, and it is never recorded, stored or transmitted. Close the tuner and the microphone stops. On Android, the current version does not request microphone access, so the tuner is not available there yet; when it is, it will work exactly as described. The Android version also lists the media-playback foreground-service permission, because the audio library used for the tuner adds it by default; Fretbox never starts that service and shows no playback notification, and it will be removed in the next Android version.
3. What the app saves, and where
The files you open are copied into the app's own private storage on your phone, so they keep working offline. They never leave the device. The app also copies there the files of its own score viewer; they contain nothing about you.
4. Network connections
Fretbox makes no network connections. The score viewer runs from files stored on your device, and the files you play reach the app only when you pick them or open them with Fretbox from another app.
5. Third parties
There are none. Fretbox contains no advertising networks, no analytics SDKs and no social integrations. No third party receives anything about you, because nothing is transmitted. Apple and Google collect their own data when you download or update any app, under their own privacy policies; we do not receive it.
6. Children
Fretbox is rated 4+ on the App Store and is not directed specifically at children. Since it collects no data at all, it collects no data from children either. It has no user-generated content, no external links and no purchases.
7. Your rights
Regulations such as the GDPR in the European Union and the CCPA/CPRA in California give you rights to access, correct or delete the personal data held about you. We hold none, so there is nothing to request. For any question, write to contact@pdevelop.net.
8. Retention and deletion of data
Your files stay on your device until you delete them. Deleting the app deletes them. On Android you can also remove a file from the library by pressing and holding it. There is no copy on our side.
9. Security
Your files are kept in the private storage that the operating system gives each app, isolated from other apps. Nothing is transmitted, so nothing can be intercepted in transit, and there is no database of ours that could leak.
10. Other notices
Fretbox has no purchases and no paid features.
11. Changes to this policy
If Fretbox ever starts collecting anything, this page will be updated before that version ships and the change will be described in the release notes.
